SUMTILO: Small numbers, big rectangle satisfaction
On 3 October 2026, SUMTILO began taking shape as Imagine-Right’s first game. The idea: a few numbers, a manageable grid and one rule that takes seconds to explain – but might still raise an eyebrow.
In SUMTILO, you divide the board into rectangles. The twist is in the numbers: each one tells you the sum of its rectangle’s width and height. A 5, for example, fits a rectangle two cells wide and three cells tall. Friendly enough so far. Now the neighbours need somewhere to go, too.
From number grid to colourful mosaic
Development started with getting the rules right and generating puzzles with exactly one solution. Next came mouse, touch and keyboard controls, an example guide and the option to undo moves.
SUMTILO’s looks evolved as well: the plain grid gradually became a colourful mosaic with raised rectangles and subtle sounds. A good idea deserves to feel good, too.
The rules at a glance
- Every rectangle contains exactly one given number.
- Width + height equal that number.
- Rectangles must not overlap.
- The entire grid must be covered at the end.
Three difficulty levels await. Feel free to start small – that first rectangle falling into place is usually the beginning of a very convincing case for “just one more round”.
